012308_mb.jpgMaybe it's because I tripled the dosage of my anti-depressants but nothing happened today. Everything is fine. Oh except Heath Ledger died. That totally sucks.

Well...NATO did announce that they are interested in persuing a policy that advocates the use of pre-emptive nukes.

and the CBC reported that the Victoria Police are going to trial against a teenage girl they tortured.

but not much going on in Van.

Now I don't agree with everything Sean has said over the last few days, however I do feel that all the response and rhetoric over racism was a little bit weak. It was just a comment and I think all it takes is for the average person to look around and agree that alot of what Sean has been saying is true.

And No, I am not a racist...I chill with people from every culture and creed and come from an interracial family.

Secondly, the fact that Beyond Robson censored the artice...just shows what a shitty blog it is. The olny thing good about it is Morning Brew, despite its somewhat overly negative tone. At l;east Sean comments on actually wwhats going on in the city and sparks debate. Debate being good, so all you idiots that have been attyacking Sean and calling him a racist and all that, Screw you! The dude is definetely not a racist. I interviewed him and definetely find him to be very PC in person. Metrobloggings post was completely whack and un called for.

What the fuck is with all the drama? You know, I'm done with this place. Beyond Robson was great about 8 months ago, when not only was morning brew here, but some decent restaraunt, club, art scence posts/reviews as well. This place USED to showcase a fairly intersting angle of the city that seems to only really be seen by people who genuinely love it here.

Now it's all morning brew because everyone I guess got "fired" (can they be fired if they aren't paid???), the team of writers has been in the process of "replacement" for months now (how long does it take to find bloggers????), and there is so much fucking drama and controversy and immaturity here I can't stand it. Wars with other blogs? Dissing the writers in what sounds like some sort of personal vendetta?

I mean, I like Sean. I like morning brew. But this place is so tired.

clearly you're not to tired.

Sean, send me your address, i've got this awesome little student care package that a few of our sponsors put together. Lululemon, Ugg, Jansport, and Georgia Straight. What are your measurement?
p.s. loved your post today. supreme, bro.

Diagnosis for BR in 2008:

"Beyond Repair"
"Beyond Respect"
"Blogger's Reave""
"Born Retarded"
"Bullshit Response"
"Boring Rehash"
"Buttheads Reproducing"
"Bum Rants"
"Boredom Ressurected"
"Brokeback Remembered"

What's your take people?

Just for the record - There was no censorship on any post as AP claimed. A couple of comments were removed because, well, they were posted under my name and I didn't make them. Obviously stunts like that won't be tolerated.

As for the future of BR, it's true, we've been in a transition for a while now but just added 4 new contributors in the last week so watch out for more variety of posts beyond the MB.

I think Sean catches way too mutch flack for BR's performance. He is a writer, not an editor and is thus not responsible for the content of this blog. Personally, I think the site is shockingly substandard compared to the Toronto and Montreal sites, but whatevs, it's just obviously another blog and no one should expect anything special from it.

Even though Sean's writing is at times a bit daft and unrefined, Morning Brew is the only reason I check this site everyday, the other content is just way too low quality to pay attention to.

I enjoy Morning Brew every day. I don't watch local TV news anymore and I don't read the paper every day so I come here for the local stuff.....

Yawn.
Fuck this.
What happened to irony?
Since when is ESL a race?
What are your expectations here?
If you're looking for a particularly "unbiased" news source (exactly what is that, someone please tell?) then you're likely out of luck, both here and elsewhere.
This is all tiresome.
I enjoy MB, and I particularly enjoy the irreverent witticisms (and ironic observations) that are neither racist nor ignorant.
Many in Vancouver are just a bit too complacent, too PC, too soft. Unwilling to call a spade a spade, so to speak, and actually speak up when they wish to be heard.
The transient nature of Vancouver's population does absolutely no good with regard to establishing a creative base and developing some sort of creative capital.

Morning Brew is your only source of news? Wow. That's a scary worldview.

Posted by: lenova at January 23, 2008 7:40 PM | Quote Comment

you talking to me ?
LOCAL news LOCAL. If thats a scary LOCALview then so be it. You prefer 'Global News' and the 'The Province', good for you. I like the variety here. you're probably just a troll anyways.
