Zebra - John Butler Trio

Garsh that was a fast week! Did you catch any shows? Here are some of this week's creme de la creme.

Friday, Apr 11
Woodhands @ Astoria Hotel: These electro-poppers from Toronto will be joined by The Clips and The Fanta Kids.
Tamba Rosa @ W.I.S.E Hall (All Ages): Some world music for your Friday night...if you're into that. This local musician plays a lot of Latin/Middle Eastern gypsy music.

Saturday, Apr 12
John Butler Trio @ Commodore Ballroom (Day One - Sold Out): Australian John Butler leads this wicked trio with his vocals and guitar/banjo-playing skills.
Most Serene Republic @ Media Club: The pride of Milton, Ontario brings their low-key, almost ambient rock to the Media Club.
Hercules & Love Affair @ Royal Unicorn Cabaret: DJ Andy Butler tours his group's shiny new (self titled) album.

Sunday, Apr 13
The Avett Brothers @ The Plaza Club: This trio has two brothers and a stand-up bass player. Their music has a slightly bluegrass twist.
John Butler Trio @ Whistler Ski & Snowboard Festival (Day Two - Free Show): See above.

Monday, Apr 14
The Trews @ Commodore (Sold Out): I really like the word Antigonish: the way it rolls off the tongue is instantly humorous way and it's the city where my friend Carly is right now. It's also where The Trews go home to brew their pop-rock. They're here to support their new album No Time For Later

Tuesday, Apr 15
The Beautiful Girls @ Richard's on Richards: These Australian roots-rockers have been compared to a wide variety of artists: from The Police to Jack Johnson.
Tariq @ The Roundhouse: I recognize Vancouver's very own Tariq from CBCr3. He doesn't just talk about indie music, he makes it (in an alt-folk form).

Wednesday, Apr 16
The Wood Brothers @ Richard's on Richards: Another set of folksy-brothers (though these boys grew up in Alabama). I'm a big fan of Chris Wood's work in Medeski, Martin and Wood. It's cool to see him touring a completely different genre.
Why? @ Media Club: New Wave indie-rock from Oakland, California.

Thursday, Apr 17
Metric @ Commodore: Looks like Emily Haines is back to team-work touring after a good bout of solo-work.
Julian "JuJu" Marley @ Dusty's Bar and Grill: Julian is Bob's tenth child. His style is more full-fledged reggae than little brother Damien's hip-hop orientated music. The two have worked together extensively.
DJ A-Trak @ Celebrities: Montreal/NY-based DJ A-Track is the official DJ for Kanye West. Sindin and LA Riots will also be about.
Sleep Holiday @ Backstage Lounge: Go hear the trippy experimental stuff that this local group. You'll find The Barcelona Chair and Call The City eager to strut their stuff as well!
Blitzen Trapper @ Media Club: These Oregon rockers will be joined by Fleet Foxes.

It'd be nice to see some more local bands featured. I'm sure there's some playing this weekend.

How about
