The best photographers of 2007
The year of 2007 brought us all kinds of suprises, both bad and good. This past year has been one of the most infliential years for our Vancouver photographers as their work got more progressive and noticed. I personally never had as much exposure to the wonderful works of Vancouver photographers as much as I did this year. I kept getting constantly inspired and left in awe with the different ways all of our photographers capture and perceive our beautiful city of Vancouver.
The talented photographers that made this years list have, throughout the year, captured all things beautiful, sad, lonely, real, pure, innocent and vulnerable. They have not only altered my view on life in our city but also managed to spark up different emotions through their photos in anyone who views them. Please join me in congratulating these amazing people and their genius work (in no particular order).
Simon Clarke - He is my most favourtie Vancouver photogrpaher of all time. His work has progressively gotten better, revealing work that is more genius and real with each post. His photos tend to mostly capture life around English Bay. My most favourite of his are his new black and white series that cature in them a sense of loneliness and a hope for something more powerful then can reached. His work has a sort of dreamy, romantic feeling that protrudes through the way he accents his photo's tones and colours. I chose his bird shot because to me, it capture feelings of hope, dreams, and age. Thank you Simon Clarke for showing all of us the beauty that is reality.

Mathew Smith - I have no definite words to describe this man's work. It is pure genius. Every time I view his photos, my mind overflows with ideas, inspiration, and emotion. See for yourself.

Miles De Courcy - His work is incredibly exciting - so exciting it might get you high. In fact, I often think that all his photos come out thorugh the perspective of an substance induced photographer. But no matter what state of mind, his photos are sure amazing. They capture a life that is full of youth, laughter, fun and crazy ol' times. One thing I love about him is the fact that he takes a lot of photos, always capturing a new idea. Some of his work is so fantasy driven that my blood mutters with a thurst for adventure.

Stephanic Vacher- I have featured Steaphanie in a previous "Exposure" post and may I say - I still can't get enough of her work. She doesn't seem to alter her work on photoshop in any way, and always succeeds in capturing such charisma, freshness, and reality in her photos - and I am sure her friends would agree.

Jordan Todd- This guy is such a risk-tasker when it comes to photography. He always seems to be encompassing his mind, eye, and camera in a new adventure. What makes his work so extreme is the fact that he always find ways to enter the most dirtiest, ghettoest buildings. He always takes a new perspective on how to capture the reality of DTES. If you look at some of his recent work, you can see that he is not afraid to be direct with his subjects. I don't know any photographer more true to his work than Jordan.

#9 dream- Over the course of the year, his work has increasingly progressed into pure brilliance. Both his polaroid and digital work express such wonderful colours and tones. I could go on and on. Bravo!
Brilliant Girl- She is probably one of the most well-recognized and liked photographers in Vancouver. I love how well she captures her emotions through her self-portraits, kinda reminds me of my own. Unfortunately I couldn't download any of her photos, but you can take a look for yourself. It will be time well spent and maybe you'll learn a thing or two about Vancouver life through her photos.

NoFutureFace- Amazing work! Every photo got my full attention, while time flew by without me noticing.

Sean Orr- one of BR's own, his work is unlike anything I've ever seen before. It is full of abstract architecture, patterns, textures, signs, and angles. Everyime I look at his photos I feel my mind slowly cornerring off reality and normalcy into a state of fantasy and abstract perception. I almost feel mentally disturbed (in a good way).

Pete Taylor- If I was looking for the best Vancouver photos out, I'd go to him for them. He takes photography to another level - a challenging one at that. His work sparkles all by itself without the effort of trying to gain attention through networking and promotion. One becomes addicted to see more of his work.
