New Site Design Is Live (But Still Needs Some Tweaks)

Unless you're reading this through our RSS feed, you probably noticed that the site looks a little different. Yep, we've updated it with a new look and new features. But we're not done yet. What you see today is just the first step. Essentially, we have the new look in place, but are still working out some bugs and will be implementing some new features and functionality over the next month.
If you're interested in what's changed, please read on....
Some of the more obvious changes include:
1. A spiffy new logo (designed by our very own Peter Pimentel)
2. A cleaner interface with a wider area for our posts which will allow us to upload wider photos and videos.
3. A new "sidebar" with an easier way to access, view and participate in our Beyond Robson Flickr Group and YouTube group.
4. More photos at the top of the page (provided by our readers) with information about the photo and a link to the photographer's web site. Just rollover/click "Picture Details" in the lower right of the photo area. If you'd like to submit photos, take a look at Matt's post about this.
5. A new navigation system. In case you don't like the pulldown options (by author or subject) you can now navigate the site kind of like you would a "traditional" web site.
6. The date and weather info (um, not yet working) in the top right of the page.
Some of the changes that might not be as obvious include:
1. The ability to get Beyond Robson posts delivered to your inbox. Just subscribe to our new Email Newsletter in the right hand side of the page. Once you subsribe, you'll automatically receive an email once a day with all the posts made on BR in the last 24 hours. If you don't like the email, you can always unsubscribe at anytime.
2. New options below each post. Just click on the button that says Tools and you'll see there's new ways to interact with each post such as sharing it on Facebook, Digging It, Bookmarking it, adding it to Del.icio.us, Printing it or even telling us we screwed up.
3. New ways to see what content is most popular. Just above the top post you'll see tabs to sort content by most viewed, most commented or most recommended. To recommend a post, simply click the "recommend this" button directly beneath it.
Those are all the updates for now. We're still working on some known issues such as, most notably, problems with our comment system. If you have any feedback, just place a comment below or email me at tim [at] beyondrobson [dotcom]. A special thanks to Abe Lopez for the code, Mark Holden and Peter Pimentel for the design and all of you for being so patient with us.

looks nice, first impression: too much green. why not use a few other colours on the icons?
